LIBRARY RESOURCES OF THE ELTHECO.

  1. The EL Theological College library was created in 2020, when each of the six member schools contributed its collection to form a common library. The combined collections of the EL Theological College centre for academic and cultural life is deeply concerned with the excellent spirit, better understanding and the growth of the student through his deep insight in the issues that shall make him great and issues that shall continue to make his steady relationship with the people he met or with the culture and society of his gospel ministry, where he has been assigned to work and to represent Jesus in cross cultural community.
Special insight to how spiritually, academically, Ministerially and socially can be obtained through greater research and  through visible love on reading what the authorities and scholars have said, made and written about such doubtful and library and researching from the library is the easiest means of discovery.

Eltheco scholastic library and Christian researching centre is the most useful, most essential and best place to solve all academic researches of the students. It is specifically built and established to help the students solve their reading, studying and researching needs.

Eltheco scholastic library and Christian researching Centre is a great library, acclaimed for its architectural designs, provides a light and pleasant study space for students and faculty. Tables, carrels and comfortable arm chairs offer a variety of quiet environment for scholarly work, Art shows and informative exhibits add to the attractiveness of the study areas.

The collections of the library reflect the ecumenical views and the diversity found within Christian religious groups as well as within world-wide Christianity. Judaism is an area of emerging collection strength. Of the other great religions, Buddhism has general coverage and Hinduism and Islam are represented within the collections as well.

Areas of the collection receiving special attention include spirituality, interfaith dialogue, women and religion, racial-ethnic ministries, inculturation, theology and the Arts  and theology and the natural sciences. The archives provide primary research materials on religion in the west and Pacific Rim with interest in ecumenism inter-religious activity, ethnic plurality, women in religion and new religious movements. The collection also includes institutional records. The composite collection of the library has not only the breadth to support the full range of theological programs but also an impressive depth in many areas of religion and theological studies.

Borrowing privileges at the nearby library assure excellent support in disciplines such as philosophy, history, sociology of religion, art and art history, music, classics, literature, education and psychology. The collection of Canon law at Boalt Hall is a significant compliment to the library. Across the library at University also opens the doors of its rich collection to students and faculty. Even with over eight thousand library volumes freely at their disposal, students and faculty will require materials owned by the libraries.

In addition to its printed, microform, and audio-visual resources, the library offers access to a wide array of electronic resources. The library’s web site contains  an extensive directory of internet resources concerned with religion and theology, in addition to describing the services of the library.

The reference section provides a number of services to students and faculty, Professional librarians provide assistance at the reference Desk with research and use of library materials. Students may also arrange for lengthier individual consultation with a librarian in planning a research strategy, Workshops on the research process and the use of research tools are taught in the library’s Teaching Lab, a special computer facility designed for hands-on instruction.

The founding member schools of the Eltheco deliberately located the position in proximity to the  famous Aba fly-over, in the belief that a great research institution offers a wealth of resources for theological students. Agreement forged with the institution over the years have made these opportunities a reality for students. Most important are the library resources. All students may obtain a library card that enables borrowing from the rich collections in a variety of fields because the libraries coordinate their library collection policies, the combined resources of both the university and the collection are considerably strengthened.

The second vital resource provided is cross-registration privileges. Professional Th.D., and M.A. students may register for one course per semester to pursue the study of specialized languages or to take advantage of specialized courses in such fields as anthropology, history, education, sociology, urban studies, racial-ethnic studies. Jewish studies, literary theory, rhetoric, philosophy and others Ph.D. students may cross-register for any number of courses, although some professors or departments may limit access to courses to students inside their department. Third, students have limited access to recreational facilities for a fee.

Finally, Ph.D. students are encouraged to find faculty members to work on their comprehensive and dissertation committees so as to represent the perspectives of the research disciplines of the Theological Institution.

We attempt to integrate the pastoral and academic dimensions of theological study, to address both the head and the heart and to offer an environment of a living multicultural Christian community in which to reflect on and prepare for ministry.

Our tradition leads us to emphasize the unique revelation of God in each person, in each culture and in every creature. Our attention is drawn to the concrete not the abstract, to the individual not the genetic, Time and place, culture. Language and history are theologically significant because they help us to understand what it means to be human, that is, to be images of Christ who is the image of God.

With its rich tradition, the Episcopal school of theology has responded to the changing cultural, social and religious realities and today the school continues to bring the questions of contemporary, culture, society and church into dialogue with the ever-ancient and ever-new Word of the Gospel. That tradition also leads us to encourage special pastoral concern for those on the margins of society and the church. We value the  integration of academic expertise with lived experience and living spirituality, community life. The heart of the Eltheco tradition is learned and expressed in and through our life in community. TO STUDIES INTRODUCTION
In December of each year school is dismissed and students prepare their hearts for a spiritual renewal. It is a time of sharing burdens, praying for others and listening to the exposition of God’s Word. To make camp meeting a success, the faculty, staff and students Bible Colleges work together with the evangelistic association staff. Each one is assigned his specific duty before, during and after vocation. Each one is expected to complete his assigned task with diligence, thus fitting his life into the camp schedule as a small gear meshing with a larger gear and altogether making the machinery roll forward. With this in mind let us move on to some details ……..

As class resumes, each student is required to work of set-up time and each non- boarding student chairs, desk and accessories will be moved all across the campus. Classrooms will be turned into academic rooms and dorms will become home to others, and parking spaces will be available set-up begins.

    ON CAMPUS WORK
The regular on-campus work assignment begin and run through the last Sunday of camp vacation, you will be assigned a daily job and are expected to be prompt, diligent in working and successful in completing each task. You will have a faculty supervisor who is also working hard to be successful – Please work together; A preliminary schedule will be printed on which you will find your name and assignment. If you absolutely cannot work at the assigned time please see any college authority for help.

    OFF-CAMPUS WORK
Off-campus vacation is not a time of lawlessness, is not a time of total freedom to do as you please. Do not tell your off-campus employer you are on vacation from school and need not loaded with extra hours. You may be able to work a few more but with church services, on-campus assignments and general fatique it will be to your advantage to maintain status quo.
We expect each student to do the following before moving out:-

    1. Scrub your sink thoroughly.
    2. Clean your closet of unwanted trash.
    3. Vacuum your carpet or mop floor.
    4. Dust your room thoroughly.
    5. Wash your windows – inside and outside.
    6. Secure anything you are leaving there.

These things must be started now … do not wait until the day you are moving out. There will not be time then.
All will move to the building and to library and adjoining rooms, it will be crowded, but through it all, there is a sense of excitement and challenge. Do your best to respect others property and keep all disturbances to a minimum. Be holy always  and all places.
…… Our campus will be put in order and will be rented to assist us and if all goes well, we will be able to utilize Monday as a rest and relaxation day. However, if the work is not completed on Monday, we will work Tuesday. As a spirit of ‘hurriedness’ prevails during tear down, we must be careful not to destroy property. It becomes ever so easy to throw and pitch items onto the trucks. Please be careful …. Remember many have sacrificed in providing our classroom furnishing and all items for our today’s  pleasure

    DECEMBER CAMP MEETINGS:
In conclusion, let me share two last items with you. First, we need the camp meetings. It is through the camp meeting that many monetary gifts are provided. Many prospective students make their contact during camp meeting, later they attend welcome week and then decide to enroll for college. Conversely, the camp needs us also, foe we provide the set-up and daily operational personnel. Thus, through this mutual relationship and history we score total success and victory in all
